Project Details

The Ministry of Urban Planning, Environment and Tourism (MUET) launched Djibouti's national AMP Project on 16 February 2023. The program aims to foster innovation and technology transfer in the field of decentralized renewable-energy distribution and storage solutions.

The objective is to improve access to clean energy by strengthening the financial viability of solar photovoltaic mini-grids and by encouraging large-scale commercial investment in this sector in Djibouti.

The project will also support the government's recovery efforts following the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities by supporting their livelihoods and offering income-generating activities.

It is expected to contribute significantly to accelerating the country's rural electrification by offering a competitive solution for electrifying areas not connected to the grid.
